Description
The Norwich Players Theatre Company Presents
ENDGAME by Samuel Beckett
Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969, Samuel Beckett – poet, novelist, playwright – further puzzled and enraged audiences with Endgame, the play which, in 1957, followed his more frequently performed but equally controversial, Waiting for Godot.
The play introduces an ageing couple, Nell and Nagg, who lost their shanks in a tandem accident, and Hamm, perhaps their son, confined to an armchair, dependent for nutrition, medication and conversation on Clov, perhaps his son or carer, perhaps both. Only Clov can walk. Who are these people? Where are they? Are they playing some sort of tortuous game? Will it ever end? If so, will it be the end of theatre, the end of the world, or neither or both?
