For veteran patrons of Norwich Jazz Club, saxophonist Dean Masser needs no introduction. Formerly resident in the county he performed regularly with the Jack Parnell Trio (releasing a “Live at Ronnie Scotts” album) and was also a mainstay in the Alan Stewart Octet.
Now back living and working in the north of England he last visited the club in 2017; so we’re delighted to welcome him back for this long-overdue return when he’ll be performing alongside his daughter Emily – recently described by Jazzwise as “one of the most original and distinctive musicians to emerge on the current British scene.”
Emily, Dean and their quintet are performing around the UK throughout February and March in a tour scheduled to coincide with the launch of Emily’s first self-released album “Songs With My Father”. This evening the club’s house trio has pleasure in accompanying the duo, navigating Emily’s exciting new arrangements of standards such as So Near So Far, The Man I Love and I’m Old Fashioned.
