Description
NORFOLK & NORWICH FESTIVAL
SEAN SHIBE: FORGOTTEN DANCES
Thu 15 May, 7.30pm
Part of Norfolk & Norwich Festival, guitarist Sean Shibe – a truly original mind at the frontier of contemporary classical music – explores some largely ‘forgotten’ works.
Julian Bream’s final performance was at the Maddermarket and Shibe performs Frank Martin’s Quatre Pièces Brèves, which lay unplayed until Bream championed the suite in the 1960s. The first recorded performance of Bach’s Cello Suites took place over 100 years after they were likely written and Thomas Adès’ Forgotten Dances invokes composers and artists of bygone times.
Forgotten Dances forms part of a residency at this year’s Festival. Visit their website for further info.
Tickets: £22 U18/YoungNNF: £10
