2026 Directors Call

CALLING ALL DIRECTORS

THE NORWICH PLAYERS THEATRE COMPANY COMMITTEE INVITES APPLICATIONS TO DIRECT FOR THE 2026 SEASON.

Please reply with your suggestion(s) to tony.fullwood@maddermarket.org by 15th February 2025

The NPTC committee invites anyone interested in directing a play for our 2026 season to submit their suggested titles.

The Maddermarket Articles say we will ‘provide for the production of the plays of Shakespeare, representative plays of other English classical dramatists, meritorious plays of other English dramatists or authors including modern plays, and translations of representative plays of foreign dramatists, ancient or modern.’

In addition, the NPTC Committee is keen to widen our programming so we would be particularly open to titles that encourage diversity, both in performers and audiences.

Whilst we cannot guarantee we will be able to accept your proposal, we want to cast the net as wide as we can.

Please give us the following details :

A brief resumé of your directing experience, especially in recent years

The one or two play(s) you propose directing and their publisher(s)

Why you feel it/they would suit the Maddermarket and whether intended for the main stage or the studio

Why you want to direct it/them

Brief descriptions of each play’s casting, set and technical requirements – as you see them

Tell us if there is a particular performance slot you prefer or any which are not possible. The draft 2026 schedule is as follows :

10-15 February : Studio show

18-22 March : Mainstage show linked with UEA Drama Department

22-26 April : Studio show

10-14 June: Mainstage show

14-18 or 22-26 July : Summer Mainstage show

16-20 September : Mainstage show
