A message from our Chair
We are living through challenging times. For many this is a time of reflection, a time where we can hit the metaphorical reset button, a time when our loved ones and our community become far more important than anything else. As an organisation we stand fully behind the government’s most recent advice, and it is critical for the safety of everyone that we follow government advice to the letter. In practical terms this means the theatre will not be staffed for the duration of the government lock down, so our phone lines will not be manned.
Every part of the arts sector is being impacted by the pandemic, and we ask for your patience in allowing us to navigate this crisis. We continue to work with promoters and will be updating our programme, but during the lockdown period we will be unable to process refunds or take any telephone queries. I’m sure you will understand that the safety of our staff is paramount and the latest government guidance is unambiguous.
As an organisation we are following a relative simple philosophy: we will be controlling what we can control, and ensuring we do not worry too deeply about everything which is outside our control. Over the coming weeks we will be finding innovative ways to keep our community engaged (it’s a challenge, but constraint is the mother of invention!).
Finally, we have been bowled over by your messages of support, and, following our #imagineyouveseenit campaign the number of people who have helped us by converting refunds into donations has been amazing. We are a small community theatre and our survival is contingent on your kindness. Many people have asked about donating to the theatre and you can do so by clicking the button below.
Artistic endeavour has been around for at least 35,000 years (cave paintings stand testament to that), and our industry isn’t going anywhere. We are pressing the pause button, but we will be back, and when we do come back we will be stronger than ever.
Stay safe everyone, and keep watching this space!
