We will be back soon! Posted on 26th November 2020 in Maddermarket Blog
We’re closed but it won’t be forever. It was with great sadness that we announced the theatre’s temporary closure on 13th October 2020. This was a difficult decision, made in order to ensure the theatre can make it through this time of uncertainty and survive to see it celebrate its centenary in September 2021.
We had hoped to re-open our doors to the public on 14th November with our Norfolk Voices festival and a fantastic line-up of Christmas shows. But with a second wave looming the decision was made that the festival would be a last ‘hurrah!’ and a chance to raise some money before closing the theatre doors for a time.
However, the wave came sooner than expected and a second national lockdown forced us to close early and cancel the Norfolk Voices Festival. We will not re-open now until later in 2021.
We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of people who have chosen to donate their tickets to support the theatre. Thank you. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to the artists, volunteers and festival director Miche Montague, who gave up their time to make the Norfolk Voices a possibility.

We hope to see you when we reopen.
