Norwich is a hive of creative activity including live music, film, art and of course theatre. There is a wealth of talented actors, technicians and volunteers within the city and this has resulted in several amateur theatre companies springing up.
The Norwich Players, whose home is the Maddermarket, have been around for over 100 years, alongside us there are also two other companies in the city with a base. Sewell Barn, based at Sewell College on Constitution Hill, and The Great Hall Theatre Company who are based at The Assembly House.
All three have their own unique space, the Maddermarket has a similar stage to The Globe theatre in London, and is famous for it's Shakespearean heritage. We also perform classics and modern plays. Sewell Barn tend to lean towards the more contemporary plays and The Great Hall perform in the round - theatre you can almost touch.
