Nugent Monck Prize 2016
This script writing prize brings together the University of East Anglia and the Maddermarket Theatre. It is is a valuable opportunity for aspiring writers residing in Norfolk and Suffolk who wish to develop their reputation.
The winning script for 2015, Cast Adrift by James MacDonald, enjoyed a successful run and tickets were sold out.
Nugent Monck founded the Maddermarket and this award is in honour of his great contribution to Norwich and his internationally renowned work.
The winning entry will be performed in the Maddermarket's Emmerson Studio 1.10 pm 5th to 9th December 2016
There is a cash prize of £250 sponsored by Sonkai Jewellers.
The small print:
The script should run for 40-45 minutes and not have been previously performed
The maximum number of actors is 4.
The resources of the Maddermarket are available to the production where possible. These may include wardrobe, props, furniture, sound and lighting. There is no further financial budget.
The time available for setting up the set is a maximum of 30 minutes and it is the same for the strike. Everything should fit into the Studio storage spaces.

There will be open auditions for the actors.
The Maddermarket and the UEA will be judging the entries jointly.
The winning script will be produced and directed by the Maddermarket in collaboration with the author.
