Madders on the Run
The Maddermarket is a registered charity, and unlike other producing houses in the country, we do not receive funding from the Arts Council or the government and therefore rely on audiences buying tickets to see the shows. The Maddermarket is one of the largest producing houses in the UK with twelve in house productions a year and therefore the costs mount up to keep the shows at such a high quality. The majority of theatres across the country receive massive subsidies from local councils or arts funding to stay open. The Maddermarket bucks this trend with the support of the local people and from others fundraising for the venue and leaving legacies in their will.
The theatre is a hive of activity and acts as a second home to a lot of volunteers, actors and educational students that are part of the team at the Theatre.
Rebecca Wass our General Manager started the year off by running an ultra marathon for the theatre, completing just over 48 miles of running in 11 hours and 21 mins.
The staff team at the The Maddermarket decided to join in the fun and are are running Norwich 10k this summer.
Representing the creative team - Amanda, James and Jez will be running, our tech department will be represented by Howard and our General Manager Rebecca will also be joining in the fun.
They hope to raise over £1000 with the aim of donating half of the proceeds to the Community Sport Fund and half to the Maddermarket.
If you would like to sponsor them please pop in the theatre or alternatively you can donate online.
